For registration this year an advance deposit will not be required. This means that registration will be one full payment for all dues and green fees on or before Monday, March 16.  Please read and follow the instruction carefully to insure your membership in this year’s league.

It is the New Year and time to think about the 2026 Maynard Golf League.  As it has been for many years now, the size and structure of this year’s league will be dependent on membership registration.  Last year’s league consisted of 14 teams playing a 14 week full season with prizes awarded based on standing at season end.  The committee’s goal is for a minimum 14 team league for this season.

 

The golf committee is aware of the issues concerning the course conditions at Stow Acres and these issues were raised with the course management last year. Since last year a number of changes have taken place at Stow Acres Country Club.  First of all course ownership has changed to the “Walden Golf Group” and they have committed to course improvements including $300K for a new remote irrigation system on the South Course and addressing other course condition issues. In 2026 the South Front and new North 9-hole layout will be used for league play.

 

As was the case last year, the Maynard Golf League will continue to be a completely independent league with no affiliation with a particular company or organization.  This means that the league will be open to membership from the general public with priority given to prior league members and alternates until all open league positions are filled.

 

This year’s league will initially be planned assuming 14 teams playing a season of 14 weeks. Initial payments due will be based on that structure.  If league size based on registration needs to be adjusted, changes to individual cost will be corrected prior to the start of competition.

Membership eligibility and priority for the 2026 golf league will be defined as follows.

 

1.    Fulltime members of the 2025 Maynard Golf League.

2.    Alternates of the 2025 Maynard Golf League.

3.    All other adults.

 

 

This year, Stow Acres green fees were increased to $32.00 per round and Stow Acres has offered one free week so membership in the 2026 golf league will cost $441.00 for full time members.  For full time members with a Stow Acres Season Pass the cost is $25. The fee for alternates will remain at $30.  Payment in full of all membership dues and green fees will be required at the time of registration on March 16.

 

All applications for full membership in the league must be received (not postmarked) by Monday, March 16 with the full payment of $441 for an individual or $882 for a team.  If you were not a member of the league last year please indicate your current 9-hole handicap.  Any applications received after March 16 will only be accepted as a league alternate with the potential for full time membership if openings exist.

 

Once registration has closed the final structure of the league will be determined, a preliminary assignment of members will be completed and the commitment to Stow Acres will be made.  For those individuals who are not assigned a position in the league they will be given the option to remain as an alternate (with a partial refund) and on the waiting list for a league opening or have their full league payment returned.

 

Instructions and an application are attached.  Please read and follow them carefully, paying special attention to the submission date.  We are not responsible for late, lost or incomplete applications.  There will not be a hardcopy distribution of this message, it will only be sent electronically.  It is the responsibility of every league member and alternate to keep the committee informed of changes to their electronic mail address or home mailing address.

1.    All applications must be received (not mailed) by Monday, March 16 with the full payment of $441 per person to be eligible for membership in the 2026 golf league.

2.    All membership information on the application must be completed. We will continue to maintain an E-mail distribution list to keep members informed of league status and special events. (However, it is YOUR responsibility to keep us informed of changes to your on-line mail address. Non E-mail address changes should be forwarded to Mary Donahue at the address below.)

   

3.    Teams applications should include the name of your team partner on individual applications. Please coordinate submissions with your partner in advance.  If you do not have a partner the committee will make every effort to pair you with other individual players.

   

4.    All reserved tee times will be between 4-5PM and will rotate each week of the season.

   

5.    All applications will be date stamped and the assignment of players will be made in the following priority:

            

    Applications received by Monday, March 16:

1.    Members of the 2025 MGL league.

2.    Alternates of the 2025 MGL league.

3.    All other adults.

 

    Applications received after Monday, March 16:

1.    Eligible for available league openings.

2.    If no openings are available, eligible for alternate/waiting list status.
