The Maynard Golf League has evolved from a golf league originally started by dedicated golfers working at the former Digital Equipment Corporation.  The league was started in the 1960’s and grew to a peak membership of over 320 golfers in three different flights ranked according to handicap.  Today the league is much smaller and consists only of a single flight or handicap group.  Play has always been at The Stow Acres Country Club and will be for this year as well.

The league is comprised of 2 person teams with 9-hole handicaps up to 18 (men) and 20 (women).  This year there is one division  of 12 teams.  All teams in each division play on the same night of the week.

League play begins in late April/early May and includes 14 weeks of divisional play.  Teams in each 6 team division will play each other three times during the season. Teams in 8 team divisions play each other twice with the last week reserved for positional matches. Teams in 12 team divisions will play each other once during weeks 1-11 and for weeks 10-14 opponents will be based on the results of the first 11 weeks of play. Divisional prizes are awarded to the teams with the most points at the end of the regular season and those teams along with others will qualify for the playoffs, if any. Single elimination playoffs may be held after regular season play is completed and prizes are awarded for the winners and runners-up for each flight. For 2025 the planned day of play is Thursday beginning at 4:00.  An end of year outing and banquet may be held after league playoffs are completed. or at the end of the regular season if no playoffs are scheduled.

For 2025 League membership cost is $445 and includes membership in the league, 14 weeks of golf and winners’ prizes.  For those holding Stow Acres season passes the membership fee is $25.  Green fee costs for the playoffs are not included in the $445.  Alternates (subs) are also welcome at a cost of $30 for the season which makes them available to sub for members on an "on call" basis and participate in outings.  Alternates may join anytime up to week 8 of play.
